Community Learning and Development staff have developed a financial capabilities course which will be running in Westhill starting on 27th September. The programme has been developed collaboratively with key partners including the Citizens Advice Bureau, Aberdeenshire Council’s Employment Support Team, Grampian Credit Union, NESCOL and others yet to be confirmed. This will be a 6 week block and will focus on some of the following issues: budgeting, spending adjustments, getting the best deals for utilities, managing debt, employment support and benefits, how to start a savings plan, relationship worries, mental health and wellbeing – to name but a few. The course will be on Thursday mornings from 27th Sept – 15th Nov, 9:30am – 12pm at the Westhill Community Centre, Hays Way, Westhill. The Garioch Partnership has arranged a number of Democracy Matters Conversations.They want to hear your thoughts in a discussion about local communities deciding their own future. How should communities be involved in decisions about Scotland’s public services? Come along and share your opinion. The sessions will be held in Newmachar on Tuesday 25th September; Inverurie on Tuesday 2nd October; Westhill on Wednesday 3rd October (Old Schoolhouse); Kintore on Monday 8th October and Kemnay on Tuesday 9th October. As part of Year of Young People, Westhill Rotary have launched a Young Citizen Award.
The objective is to recognise the efforts of young people in Westhill area where they have shown exceptional efforts with Citizenship and acknowledge these efforts by public recognition.
