AFC Stadium: Pre-Determination Hearing date set

A Pre-Determination Hearing is to be held on Wednesday, September 13, for the proposed football stadium at Kingsford, near Westhill.

It is scheduled to take place at Aberdeen City Council Chamber, the Town House, Broad Street, at 9.30am. Members of the public can observe proceedings from the public gallery.

The process is designed to provide an enhanced scrutiny measure for applications which involve development proposals which (in this case) does not comply with the Local Development Plan.

Westhill and Elrick Community Council – which is opposed to the plan – will be among objectors and supporters making representation to members of Aberdeen City Council’s planning committee.

The application by Halliday, Fraser, Munro, on behalf of Aberdeen Football Club Plc and Aberdeen FC Community Trust, is for community and sports facilities, football stadium, ancillary uses, formation of access roads, parking and associated landscaping and engineering works, at West Kingsford, next to the A944 to the east of Westhill.

Councillors will make a site visit in advance of the hearing.

At the hearing council officers will summarise the application and material considerations. The applicant will present the proposals and objectors and supporters will have have a chance to state their case.

Councillors can ask questions of officers, consultees, applicant, as well, objectors and supporters after each presentation.

The application will not be determined on the day but will go to Full Council at a later date. The Head of Planning and Sustainable Development will prepare a report about the Hearing for consideration then.
