The WECC’s youngest member will chair the monthly meeting on Thursday 10th March 2016.

Kieran Rorie will take over temporarily from deputy chair, Audrey Findlay, for one session.

At just 19, Kieran will be the youngest member to chair the community council since its formation.

Kieran said: “I just wanted to give it a go.

“It is a huge privilege and I hope to encourage more people to engage with their local communities.”

Kieran served as a Pupil Council representative for Westhill Academy on the WECC, and is a former Aberdeenshire Youth Council member and MSYP.

The WECC is on the hunt for new members of all ages.

Kieran said he hoped his involvement would encourage other youngsters to join or share their views.

He added:”It has been a number of years since the WECC had a Pupil Council representative coming along to meetings and it would be fantastic if a young person from the school was inspired to take part in our discussions.”
