Westhill & Elrick Community Council have an entry for developing Larg Park.
By developing an outdoor haven with trees and native wildflowers, we want to create a place for young people to play, people to learn new skills, wildlife to flourish and people to connect with one another.

New paths open at Carnie Woods, and ahead of schedule
Only three and a half weeks after starting, our contractor has finished the path reconstruction work at Carnie Woods with only a few finishing touches – signage, information panels and seating – to be added. The surface is now very different and suitable for all abilities. Dirt [sometimes mud], roots and boardwalk have been replaced by a smooth 2m wide stone and dust path which has been laid end to end along the full 1.1km between the B979 car park at Mackie Place and Peregrine Road lay-by. A totally new link path has also been added to allow all-abilities access from Carnie Crescent car park. Thus, we now have a facility that can be used by the whole community – walkers, runners, cyclists, wheelchair and mobility scooter users alike, and from three different entry points. Squirrels, birds and young saplings await your visit!
Members of Westhill & Elrick Community Council would like to thank @pathsforall for the majority of the funding and for encouraging us to apply, Aberdeen City Council for the balance of the funding and project management and Aberdeenshire Council for funding the accessibility links to/from Carnie Crescent and Peregrine Road.
Please let us know what you think so far.
Further work is being planned to repair and/or remove the remaining sections of damaged/rotted boardwalk in the woods, but this will require funding, more time and voluntary input

Community Litter Picks – every 2nd & 4th Saturday
Organised litter picks have been running throughout the summer to keep the community as free of litter as possible. Your Community Council has teamed up with Westhill & District Rotary Club, and together we organise hour-long picks on every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month at 10am.
If you would like to get involved, please come along to the bowling/tennis pavilion at Denman Park on the day and we will issue you with grabber, collection bag & ring, plus hi-viz vest. Please bring your own gloves and wear sturdy footwear. Briefings will be given by one of the leaders and you will be allocated an area to collect from.
Our next pick is on Saturday, 23rd September, and thereafter: 14th & 28th October, then 11th & 25th November, weather permitting.
If Saturdays are not convenient for you, but you would like to collect litter in your own time, we can arrange to issue you with a set of kit for your own use. Please get in touch by email: prenticeg.wecc@gmail.com. Thank you
