In 2024, Community Council elections are changing and for the first time all Aberdeenshire Community Councils will be elected on the same date, with nominations sought for all spaces on all Community Councils.
Nominations to join your Community Council will open on 19 August 2024 and close on 8 September 2024.
Community Councils are comprised of people who care about their community and want to make them a better place to live. We hope that previous members will want to continue representing their communities but are also keen to encourage new people to become involved and give up some of their time to sustain and develop their communities. Whatever your background, you have something to bring to your Community Council.
If there are not enough candidates to meet the minimum numbers to form the Community Council, a Community Council will not be able to be formed and this will leave a considerable gap in the representation of local views and involvement in development of policy and how your area develops and grows.
As a Community Councillor you will be provided with training and support and you will learn about how things work, get to develop and undertake projects and get a real sense of achievement when you see the difference you can make.
If you are interested in becoming a Community Councillor you can find the nomination forms at Community council elections – Aberdeenshire Council or by scanning the QR code

On Thursday, the 27th June, there is an opening session in Westhill Library from 4pm to 6pm around Techscaler, the Scottish Government’s five year programme to support the growth of the technology ecosystem in Scotland.
The event is designed for people studying, interested in, or working in technology as well as existing businesses looking to bring digital capability into their offering.
We have been hosting a series of these events across Aberdeenshire in collaboration with the council through their library network.

Roads and Infrastructure Services is presently conducting a review of its Winter Maintenance Policy. As part of this process, they are seeking input from the public. Residents of Aberdeenshire are invited to participate by completing a short questionnaire. We would like to obtain your views, as a network user, on what you feel should be considered as priorities for winter maintenance and gather any additional feedback you wish to share.
The questionnaire should take no longer than ten minutes to complete, and your cooperation would be greatly appreciated. The survey closes on 16th June.
